Sport and commitment

Sports profile and facilities
We have focused on sports broadly for many years by offering a wide variety of activities and by spreading sports facilities widely and prominently throughout the town. Albertslund Stadion also houses a broad spectrum of facilities. However, we need to renovate our sports facilities and possibly expand some of them.

Individual, informal physical exercise is a current trend, and new forms of sport are emerging all the time.

· We will allow our sports profile to influence decisions to build new sports facilities and modernise old ones (for example, swimming pools, sports halls, spectator facilities, changing facilities, clubs and artificial grass pitches).

· We will highlight sporting activities in the community and give residents the opportunity to try many different sports.

· We will encourage more children, youth and elderly people to do sport, including those who cannot or do not want to take part in organised sports, as well as those who need specially organised sporting activities.

· We will incorporate environmental concern as a natural part of modernising and using our sports facilities.

· We will spur cooperation with the other Copenhagen West local authorities to establish and use large, common sports facilities and buildings.

Passionate commitment
Sports clubs and other associations depend heavily on the work of committed volunteers. They are the driving force and basis for the broad, varied range of activities available.

· We will support and advise volunteers in order to sustain enthusiasm and team spirit.

· We will test new partnerships and forms of collaboration between public- and private-sector organisations and associations.
