Energy laboratory and environmental research park
We have founded a new association, ‘Miljøvidenparken i Albertslund’, a centre for energy-efficient renewal. Within this framework, representatives of the energy and utility, construction, environmental and energy consultancy sectors will work with scientists to develop targeted solutions for energy-efficient renewal. Albertslund is a young town and its building stock is representative of the industrialised housing complexes that sprang up during the 1960s building boom. This makes it perfect experimental material for testing and marketing new solutions.
· We will use networks and the environmental research park to create a forum in which new insight can be generated in partnership.
· We will use networks and the environmental research park to make Albertslund an energy laboratory.
· We will provide buildings for innovative, energy-efficient renewal projects.
· We will profile Albertslund as an energy laboratory and innovative climate-friendly town.
Energy-efficient urban renewal
Our town was built in a relatively short period of time and its uniform building stock needs renovation and modernisation. Although this poses a funding challenge, it is also an opportunity to rethink the town’s architectural and environmental qualities.
· We will set the agenda for the architecture, use and energy efficiency of buildings by developing and using the passive house standard extensively when constructing new buildings and renovating old ones.
· We will look into financial incentives as a way to promote energy-efficient solutions in residential and commercial buildings.
· We will incorporate relevant sustainable energy solutions.
· We will work with users and residents to implement energy-saving measures for all types of building.
· We will build new institutions that meet the requirements for low-energy housing as a minimum.
· We will develop and use energy-efficient lighting.

KEY POLICY DOCUMENTS |
|
1. Climate strategy: The local authority will focus on Albertslund’s profile and on modernising and renovating its building stock in energy-efficient ways in order to reduce energy consumption. |
|
DID YOU KNOW that Albertslund local authority was the initiator of an association, ‘Miljøvidenpark for virksomheder’, an environmental research park, whose members will work together to develop energy-efficient renovation methods? It will give enterprises the opportunity to set up in business, develop skills and offer energy-efficient solutions in the form of renewal and modernisation projects, for example, for the existing building stock of Albertslund.
DID YOU KNOW that Albertslund has many years of experience renovating local government buildings as energy-efficiently as possible? Recently, the ventilation systems at Svømmehal Syd swimming baths and Vridesløselille Swimming and Fitness Centre were technically improved, electricity and heat-saving measures introduced and the district heating cooling system made more efficient. Collectively, these initiatives reduced electricity consumption by 25% and heating consumption by 40%.
DID YOU KNOW that three new daycare centres will be built in Albertslund by the year 2011 and that DKK 35 million has been earmarked for renovating and rebuilding parts of the other centres?
